AiR Green residents (28.04 – 26.05.2025)
Helena Pernow is an textile artist working primarily with techniques such as weaving, dyeing and printing, but also with spatial installations and performance. In her work, she explores both material properties of textiles and their ability to carry personal and collective memories. A consistent aspect of her work is the connection between material, place, time, and body – where
material and tactile memories often serve as a starting point. Pernow holds an MFA in Textiles from HDK-Valand Steneby (2020) and a BFA in Interior Architecture from Konstfack, Stockholm (2016).
Kayla Powers creates ecologically focused textile art that engages with the living world through traditional practices of foraging, dyeing, weaving, and stitching. Color serves as the foundation of her work, which manifests as large, ethereal fabric assemblages, loom-woven pieces, paintings, and sculpture to represent the cycles of life and gesture towards our place in the family of things. Powers holds an MFA in Fiber Art from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BA in Art History from Western Michigan University.
Miriam Hartung is a German artist currently based in Kiel. While studying “Language and Form” at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design, she developed a strong focus on textile art. Today, she works as an independent artist and designer, driven by a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, a sensitivity to language, and a curiosity for experimental approaches.
Olga Ulmann is a German artist and artistic researcher. She creates large-scale textile installations, sculptures, and drawings. She uses sewing – a labor historically linked to femininity and domesticity, to both redefine the female body but also celebrate sewing as a physical and artistic labor, emphasizing empathy, resilience, and solidarity with overlooked social groups. Ulmann holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths University of London and an MA with distinction in Art Education and Art History from Goethe University, Frankfurt.
AiR Green Studio residence (22.04.-22.06.2025)
Chen-Yu Wang is a Taiwanese artist currently based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. She holds a MA in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven and BA in Fashion Textiles from Ravensbourne University London. Wang translates Eastern and Western ways of thinking, written information in Mandarin and English, the implicit between material and immaterial and the dialogue between us and the other. Wang wants to break through the silence of the important but invisible voices of capitalism. Core themes are decolonization, decentralization of euro-centrism, hybridization and anti-racism.
